Kenyan President William Ruto toured the Dangote Refinery in Lekki, Lagos, on Friday, describing it as a massive achievement that shows what African governments, investors, and financial institutions can achieve together.
He noted its 700,000 barrels-per-day capacity, over 100 million litres of daily fuel production, and 120km of sea cables. Ruto announced a larger refinery will launch in Kenya next week, expected to create 60,000 jobs and transform the region’s petroleum sector. The refinery reached full capacity in February 2026 and recently launched an IPO.
