Spain Become First Nation to Hold Men’s and Women’s World Cup Titles Simultaneously
Spain has made history by becoming the first nation to simultaneously hold the FIFA Men’s World Cup and FIFA Women’s World Cup titles, following their 1-0 victory over Argentina in the 2026 men’s final.
FIFA celebrated the milestone on X: “History-makers Spain have become the first nation to hold both the @FIFAWorldCup and @FIFAWWC simultaneously!” Spain’s men’s triumph comes three years after the women’s team won their first World Cup in 2023, defeating England 1-0 in Sydney.
This is Spain’s second men’s World Cup title, following its 2010 victory. The country also won the UEFA European Championship in 2024.
