Martinez, Romero Slam Gary Neville After Argentina Beat England

Argentina defenders Cristian Romero and Lisandro Martinez have fired back at Manchester United legend Gary Neville after he labelled them “the best worst centre-halves in the world” ahead of Argentina’s 2-1 World Cup semi-final victory over England.
Neville made the comments after Argentina’s 3-2 win over Egypt in the Round of 16. Following their victory over England, Martinez and Romero gave a joint interview responding to the criticism.
Martinez said they are “used to people always talking about us” and “we just let our play on the pitch do the talking.” Romero added, “The only thing I hope is that when I retire, I won’t be that stupid. Hopefully, down the line, I won’t go around criticising players or anyone else.”
Key Points:
The victory over England validates Argentina’s defensive quality on the big stage.
