Barcelona Submit Official Bid to Sign Karim Adeyemi

Barcelona have submitted an official bid to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi, with the 24-year-old Germany international having agreed personal terms with the La Liga champions, according to GOAL.
Dortmund value the forward at approximately €40 million as he enters the final stretch of his contract. Barcelona coach Hansi Flick is a key driver behind the deal, viewing Adeyemi’s pace and direct running as a perfect fit for his tactical setup.
Super-agent Jorge Mendes has facilitated the negotiations. The potential arrival of Adeyemi will not affect Barcelona’s pursuit of Julian Alvarez as their primary number nine target. Barcelona is exploring player swap options to lower the cash requirement.
Key Points:
Adeyemi’s arrival would add pace and versatility to Barcelona’s attack
Hansi Flick’s familiarity with Adeyemi from the German national team is driving the move
Barcelona is exploring creative ways to lower the €40m cash requirement
The deal does not affect Barcelona’s pursuit of Julian Alvarez
Dortmund risks losing Adeyemi for a reduced fee next summer if they don’t sell now
Barcelona and Dortmund must now agree on the final transfer fee. Adeyemi is expected to sign a long-term contract if the clubs reach an agreement.

Mikel Obi Warns Messi, Argentina Over Switzerland Clash

Super Eagles legend Mikel Obi has warned Argentina to expect a tough test against Switzerland in their 2026 World Cup quarter-final clash. Speaking on Fox Sports, Mikel described the Swiss as a “difficult and unpredictable opponent” who are “so compact, so tight, they don’t give you too many chances.”
He said: “This Swiss team, every time you watch them, they are a very awkward team to play against; you never know exactly what you’re going to get from them.” Argentina, who survived two high-octane escapes against Cape Verde and Egypt, are favourites on paper but must be wary of Switzerland’s disciplined defensive setup.
Key Points:
Switzerland’s compact, tight defence could frustrate Argentina’s attack
Argentina have been vulnerable in previous matches, needing late comebacks
Messi is the key creator and goalscorer for Argentina, but Switzerland could neutralise him
Mikel believes Argentina’s style is predictable while Switzerland is unpredictable
The match could be tighter than expected despite Argentina’s star power
Argentina face Switzerland in the quarter-finals on Saturday. The defending champions must be prepared for a disciplined, defensive Swiss side that could spring a surprise.
